My Roof Has Hail Damage. Help!
We Will Help Explain the Insurance Claim Process
When your roof has been damaged by wind or hail, the insurance claim process can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and confusing. There are several key tasks that must be performed:
- The policy holder (property owner) must file a loss claim with their insurance carrier.
Have your policy information at hand so that you may provide the required information (policy number).
You will be issued a Claim Number.
It is vitally important that you record the Claim Number, as it is the reference for all future transactions regarding your claim.
Our staff will not file your loss claim for you as we do not believe this to be a practice of an ethical contractor. We will assist you by providing contact numbers or websites for most insurance companies.
- Your insurance carrier will assign an Adjuster to inspect your property,
and the Adjuster will render an opinion as to the extent of damages and assess a monetary amount for repairs.
The Adjuster will then deliver a Loss Statement to you detailing the damages and claim amount.
It is our experience that severe weather is indiscriminate regarding what property is damaged, and usually there is collateral damage to unscheduled property. One of our services includes identifying such losses to the adjuster to help obtain the largest claim award possible. We believe that it is in the property owner's best interest to have an experienced representative accompany the Adjuster at the scheduled inspection.
- Our staff estimators will generate an estimate to verify the Adjuster's Loss Statement for accuracy, and then negotiate with the insurance company as necessary to make sure that the loss award amount is sufficient to complete the repairs.
- Upon achieving final negotiated award settlement we will notify you of the scheduled materials delivery date,
and scheduled commencement of work.
When the materials are delivered, we will ask that you pay half of the total claim amount before we commence work.
We value your input regarding site specific concerns. We do not want to block cars in the garage, block entry walkways, let the pets out, etc. Above all we want to insure a safe work-site for both our crews, your household, and the surrounding properties. Please inform us of any concerns you might have.
- Most roof replacements take just one day, however, we ask that you allot two days due to uncontrollable variables.
We monitor the local weather forecast and strive to give our crews a two-day window with less than a 30% chance of rain. Occasionally our crews will be delayed in the completion of the previous job, and we beg your patience with such unforeseen delays.
- Upon completion of the roof replacement, we will invoice both the property owner and the insurance carrier the same amount. This informs the insurance company that the appropriate repairs have been completed and that final payment is due. Upon receipt of the final payment we will furnish you with a Release of Lien to verify that all materials and labor bills associated with our work on your project have been paid.
